“In Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins series II, familiar faces from Critical Role’s smash-hit first campaign return as their escapades in Stilben lead them towards their next adventure-and a dire threat to Grog Strongjaw, the goliath barbarian, when he goes missing in the night. It will be available through Dark Horse Digital and retail stories, and hints at revealing material discussed, but not fully disclosed in the livestream. The six-issue series comes from Eisner Award-nominated writer Jody Houser (“Orphan Black,” “Stranger Things”) and first series artist Olivia Samson, with colorist MSASSYK (“Isola,” “Gotham Academy”), letterer Ariana Maher (“James Bond,” “Xena”), and a first issue cover by artist Fiona Staples (“Saga”). In “Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins series II” #1, we find the heroes of Vox Machina back in their beloved style of action-packed yet absurd adventures. The first of these three projects will be the sequel to “Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins series I,” debuting this July 10, 2019. Now, Dark Horse Comics has announced three new projects based on epic tales from the world of Exandria, allowing fans to explore new, original aspects of the Critical Role universe through comics and an art book. Vox Machina Origins Series III was written by Jody Houser ( Orphan Black, Stranger Things) and Matthew Mercer with illustrations by Olivia Samson, colors by MSASSYK ( Isola, Gotham Academy), and letters by Ariana Maher ( James Bond, Xena), and is published in partnership with our good friends over at Dark Horse Comics. But what’s next for the fledgling group not yet known as Vox Machina? They’ve expanded to new destinations and recruited some new friends (along with some new enemies). From the Frostweald to the Umbra Hills (and everywhere in between), our beloved adventurers have taken on curses, demons, cults, nymphs, liches, possession, and magic rituals, not to mention the antics of Scanlan’s practiced chicanery. Vox Machina has come a long way since their early meeting in Stilben. In case you need a bit of a refresher, here’s where we’re currently at in our Vox Machina Origins storyline (spoiler-free and courtesy of our amazing Lore Keeper and expert recapper, Dani Carr): Critter artist Olivia Samson has returned as our interior artist for Series III and has done a phenomenal job in depicting the best (or maybe worst, depending on who you ask) not-quite-heroes in Exandria. We’re excited to reveal a brand new look for our favorite group of ragtag adventurers from our first campaign, Vox Machina (we see you and we appreciate you, cosplay and art communities!), which you will find in the continuation of our upcoming comic book series, Vox Machina Origins Series III.
